When you Google your name, do you like what you see?

Wouldn’t it be nice to see your own personal website, your business website, your facebook page, and a press release about you or your business that casts you in a positive light?  What about a Youtube video showcasing your business?

It would be nice if we had control over what people saw when they Googled us by our name or our business name.

Reputation management works like this:

We identify all of the websites, videos, social media sites and any other online media that you want to appear on page 1 of search results for your name or your business name.

Then I use tried and true search engine optimization strategy to move your preferred sites and media to the top of page 1 in Google. If there are items on page 1 of search results that you do not like, they will slowly be pushed off of page 1, as YOUR content rises to the top.

Can content be deleted off the internet?

Content cannot be deleted off the internet; however, if there is something you do not like, I recommend you contact the site owner directly. If you ask them in a nice way, you might be able to get them to take down the disparaging remarks or update the website to cast you in a more positive light.

If this tact is unsuccessful, than reputation management services can do the work for you. Let’s say somewhat shot a random video when you were not on your best behavior and they posted it to Youtube and tagged you. When you Google your name, this video is appearing in the 3rd position. What we would need to do is create and optimize at least 8 separate pieces of content about you, so that the video gets moved to the 11th position and onto page 2 of search results.

While a situation like this is fairly extreme for most of us, this is exactly how reputation management works to “clean up” what you see when you Google your name.

How long does Reputation Management take?

For most of us, there is not much competition for our name. Even if you have a common name like “John Smith” and you see a lot of other “John Smith’s” on the first page of Google search results, chances are pretty good that none of those sites have been optimized with SEO. Therefore, just a little nudge for the sites that YOU want on page 1 can provide very nice results in a short period of time.

Reputation management services end when you say they end. For some clients, just having their own site appear #1 is what they want. For other clients, they want to fill page 1 with their own content. This can take a little while longer. It’s all up to you.

I was able to rank an internationally known individual who has a website in his own name in just over 1 month. Depending on how much media you want ranked, I would not expect reputation management services to take longer than 2-3 months.

Are Reputation Management Results Long Lasting?

Usually, once we get YOUR content where we want it, it is difficult to displace it. The reason is that while other sites or media may “pop” online about you, it is unlikely that the owner of that content will do any type of search engine optimization. It is possible that search results could shift over time and if you need a boost, just contact me. In general, reputation management results are long lasting.

Who Creates The Content?

I prefer that you create your own content. You should have control over your own social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn. Additionally, any videos, photographs and other website content should be created and uploaded by you. Once you provide me with the URLs of the media, I can get started on ranking them to page 1.

A piece of content is considered to be any website, video, or social media site that holds a place in Google search results. There are usually 10 pieces of content on each page of Google’s search results.

$300 per month THE CLEANER package is for those of us who have something near the top of page 1 of Google search results that we do not want to see. Several pieces of your content will need to be optimized and pushed above the disparaging content, in order to move it off of page 1.

Derogatory Content

Sometimes, reputation management services simply require moving a piece of content off of page 1, such as a website that speaks negatively of you.  In a case like this, we boost all of the pages below the negative content, so that the derogatory content gets pushed to page 2 where most people will not see it.  Depending on how strong the negative content is, expect 2-3 months of service in order to move that content down.
